Download Chit Chat for Facebook

Personally, I don’t like using facebook inbuilt chat as it doesn’t offer features which are must needed and is soggy too. So, here is a good alternative to facebook chat.
Chit Chat for Facebook is a free instant messenger that allows you to chat with all your Facebook contacts right from your Windows desktop, eliminating the need of a web-browser to chat over Facebook.

Chit Chat for Facebook
The app has a simple and easy to use interface. One can chat with multiple friends over facebook, see full chat log, save the conversation as html file, clear chat history.

It also shows Instant Message Notification which lets you know when you receive an instant message, friends come online or go offline.

How to Disable sound and Go offline on Facebook Chat?

You might want to temporarily appear offline in Facebook to keep away from chat messages and unnecessary pings. Like Gmail and Yahoo, you can easily appear Invisible on Facebook chat and continue browsing Facebook without any disturbance.

To Appear Offline on Facebook, just open the ‘Chat’ box and click on the Options button. Now select the ‘Go Offline’ option to appear as invisible on facebook. The new chat notification sound feels noisy but you can turn it off too, by unchecking the option named ‘Play sound for new messages’.

Just click on the Chat window anytime to appear back online on Facebook.

How do I import my blog RSS feed into a Facebook fan page?

I've read your earlier article about how to hook up my blog via RSS feed to my Facebook profile [see Import your Blog entries or RSS feed to your Facebook Profile] but I'm trying to do something slightly different: I want to import an RSS feed into a fan page I've created, so your instructions don't work. HELP!
Dave's Answer: Glad you found my earlier article. This is one of those areas on Facebook that are surprisingly complicated until you realize that the most obvious path is not the best one. Specifically, there are no additional Facebook apps that you need to hook into your fan page, the ability to track a single RSS feed (RSS is the data feed of blogs, podcasts, etc) on a profile page is actually already built-in to Facebook.
The problem is knowing how to get to it!
So here's what ya do...
Start out by logging into your Facebook account and going to your fan page. You can most easily do that by clicking on the "Ads and Pages" link on the left navigational column. This is what I see:
How do I import my blog RSS feed into a Facebook fan page? Since I've already set up the (you are a member, right? :-) we'll work on the Boulder Open Podcast instead. I click on the name of the fan page (not the "Edit" link) and get here:
How do I import my blog RSS feed into a Facebook fan page? The next step isn't to click on "Settings", as you might think, but instead to click on the "+" tab so we can add a "Notes" section:

Now, click on "Write a New Note" and ignore everything but the little strip of icons along the top of the page:

How do I import my blog RSS feed into a Facebook fan page? You can probably guess what do from here! Click on "Import a blog"...
How do I import my blog RSS feed into a Facebook fan page? Now enter the URL of your blog RSS feed or, if you don't know it, the URL of your blog itself (Facebook can usually figure things out properly) and click on the "Start Importing" link.
It'll chug away for a bit trying to figure out what's going on, then will show you the last few entries from the blog's RSS feed:
How do I import my blog RSS feed into a Facebook fan page? Looks good? Then on the right you'll see the option you want:
How do I import my blog RSS feed into a Facebook fan page? Click on "Confirm Import" if it all looks good and you're done!
How do I import my blog RSS feed into a Facebook fan page? Nice, that's just what we want for the "Notes" section, a mirror of the RSS data itself. Better yet, though, check out the home of the Boulder Open Podcast fan page now:
How do I import my blog RSS feed into a Facebook fan page? Now to tweak that RSS data to be optimal for people who get to the material via Facebook. But that, dear reader, is another story for another day...

How to Disable CD/DVD drive and Removable storage USB devices in Windows 7 & Vista

Windows 7 and Vista provides an easy way to protect your private and important data from being copied or stolen by unwanted people. This is possible if you disable read/write access to Removable Storage devices like CD/DVD drive and USB Flash drives/Pen drives.

Users can either opt to deny read access/deny write access or both. When disabling read access, you can’t open or copy any files from desired removable media. When disabling write access, you can’t paste any files/folder on the removable device.
How to Disable system devices:
Go to Start, open Run or Search and type “gpedit.msc”. Navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Removable Storage Access
gpedit
You’ll be presented with various options for different devices. Just open the entry you want to modify, chose Enabled button and click Ok.

FILEminimizer Pictures 3.0 goes FREE & gets Facebook integration [Image compression tool]

Just got an email from balesio AG that FILEminimizer Pictures 3.0 has been released, the new version is completely Free and now offers integrated uploading of optimized images directly to Facebook. It is a great tool that helps in saving your time and bandwidth.

FILEminimizer Pictures 3.0 optimizes digital photos and images and achieves file size reductions by up to 98% without zipping. For example, a JPEG photo with a size of 5MB can be reduced to only 0.1MB. After compression, the images are still in their native file format and looks beautiful considering the vast deduction in their file size.

  • Fully compatible with Windows 7
  • Free full version – No registration required, no strings attached.
Our Results on basis of different Compression settings:
  • Web/E-mail compression – 2.80 MB sized Digital camera JPG photo (dimensions: 3264×2448) was reduced to JPG image sized 144 KB with dimension of 640×480.
  • Standard compression – 2.73 MB sized Digital camera JPG photo (dimensions: 3264×2448) was reduced to JPG image sized 291 KB with dimension of 1024×768.
  • Low/Print compression – 2.59 MB sized Digital camera JPG photo (dimensions: 3264×2448) was reduced to JPG image sized 612 KB with dimension of 1600×1200.
The results were good for all the 3 compressed images, their image quality was good and hardly any difference in quality was noticeable. However, ‘Upload to Facebook’ feature didn’t worked for me and also the ‘View files’ button wasn’t doing anything.
